A Little Girl’s April Fool’s Day Prank

A colleague walked in my classroom, “Sophie really fooled me. I thought she was really hurt.”

“What?!?”

Come to find out, Sophie planned with two of her friends to act like they were seriously injured.

Upon her arrival to school, she borrowed a set of crutches from a teacher, grabbed a long piece of tan elastic bandage and wrapped her ankle.

The entire day she hopped around on crutches fielding questions about her “injured” ankle.

When I finally saw her at lunch, a school mate worriedly asked her, “Sophie, what happened to your ankle?”

“Well”, unexperienced in not completely telling the entire truth, stumbled with “I was outside . . . last night, and uh . . . I fell in a hole and hurt my ankle. I had to go to . . . to uh, the hospital.”

You can only imagine the pride welling up inside knowing that my little girl has a mischievous streak in her. Now I just have to be prepared for her every year here on out.
