A Boys Perception of Nipples

While sitting down for lunch, Dominic blurted out, “Boys have nipples!”

I am never surprised with his strikingly indiscriminate remarks and questions. In the back of mind, I had no idea where this conversation may be leading in that little five-year old mind of his, so I calmly, seriously, and simply reassured him, “Why yes Domino, boys do have nipples. . . And girls do too!”

I should have just left out the information about the girl. Like the saying goes, let a sleeping dog lie, or something about not messing with a dangerous creature that will attack you with questions.

Faster than a fat boy jumps up for a second helping of ice cream, he responded “No they don’t! They have boobies!”

I then proceeded to explain that actually, girls do have nipples.

He sat back a bit, and said, “yeah, you are right, girls do have nipples.”

And like that, we avoided a much more intense talk about the female anatomy.

I can only imagine how much more interesting his random conversations are going to become as he gets bigger.
